Punjab youth among 3 drug smugglers | held with 1,780 intoxicant capsules | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 06: A youth of Punjab and two locals were today apprehended by police at Narwal here along with 1,780 intoxicant capsules. With this, police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of drug smugglers which was active for the past some time. Acting on specific inputs, a Narwal police post team intercepted an autoricksha (JK02R/9934) near Narwal vegetable market. There were a total of three persons, including driver, in the autoricksha. Police sources said during the checking of their belongings, cops recovered 1,780 intoxicant capsules. The capsules and the autoricksha were then seized and the threesome arrested, the sources added. The accused were identified as Sanjeev Kumar, son of Romesh Chander of Model Town in Pathankote, Punjab, Vicky Kumar, son of Sukh Ram of Kanji House near Gumat, and Sher Bharat, son of Swaran Lal of Old Bahu Fort. Police had registered a case against them under NDPS Act. Sources said Sanjeev was wanted by police here for the past some time. He was alleged to be the main supplier of drugs in Jammu and Punjab areas.
