NC working against coalition dharma; allege Cong leaders | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 6 : The coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah has failed on all fronts and its dismal performance has been a cause of concern for UPA led Congress Government at Centre which has been instrumental in induction of Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister of the state despite the opposition from certain quarters within the Party. The recent leaks made by has also substantiated the allegations made by certain quarters that the money given by Centre for development works goes down the drain as the condition of roads and lanes in entire state is worst and even not up to the Indian standards. According to high placed sources the Union Government which is under pressure within the Party not to give any more leverage to Mr Abdullah as such an action will prove costly for the interests of Congress in the state, sources added. Sources said moreover the increasing corruption in the state and the allegations leveled by various political organizations against the working of NC led coalition as well the prevailing unrest in the state has also become a ploy for the detractors of Mr Abdullah to increase oust Omar lobbying at Centre. The sources said these leaders have even the patronage of some senior Congress leaders including the Finance Minister, Pranab Murkherjee and Home Minister, P Chidambaram who are not happy with the style of functioning of the Chief Minister. Sources said recently a Congress delegation that visited Union Capital apprised the central leaders about the dismal performance of the Government. They have not hesitated in pleading the case of PDP saying that coalition with Mufti Mohammed Syed was based on basic principles and the PDP leadership never tried to harm the Congress interests in the state and make inroads in its bastions in Jammu or Kashmir Valley, But in comparison to that the NC is trying to make in roads in the congress bastions in Jammu by luring the Sarpanches owing allegiance to the Party to join NC and help the party in increasing its support base in Jammu, sources added. Sources said while a sizeable number of Congress leaders still press for change of guard after completion of three years by Omar Abdullah have reportedly asked the High Command that by not adhering to this principle of coalition will prove tantamount to Congress interests in the state. These leaders while pleading the case of rotational Chief Ministers have questioned the decision that on what basis NC will rule for complete six years in the state when its support base in J&K is less than Congress as per the total vote percentage also, sources added. Sources said while pressing its demand they said the PDP leaders during the previous coalition had agreed on rotational chief minsitership and that too one from Jammu region but the NC which has lost its support base in Valley is still dictating terms which should not be accepted by the party. To pacify these leaders Mr Mookerjee as well as Mr Chidambaram had told these agitated Congress leaders that Mufti is also their friend and they have cordial relations with PDP too, sources added. Sources said the Congress leaders have told the leaders at Delhi that in all Government functions Congress leaders are ignored even in those constituencies which are represented by the party by NC ministers. They told the national leaders that NC provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta who has no support base on ground is being invited by Chief Minister in every function at Jammu while the senior congress leaders who represented the people of Jammu in Lok Sabha and state Assembly are being deliberately ignored. This way the senior party leaders feel humiliated and if such policy of NC will continue this prove against the interests of coalition politics in the state, sources added. |
