Landslide kills cab driver on Mughal road | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 07: A Tata sumo taxi driver was killed in a landslide at Chota Pani on Mughal road while he was on his way from Srinagar to Rajouri. Javed Iqbal (22), son of Maroof Malik, Tuesday took the Mughal road to reach home at Rajouri in his Tata sumo. Police said due to heavy rains, there was a sudden landslide at Chota Pani, which falls under the jurisdiction of Surankote, Poonch. As the road was blocked, he parked his vehicle by the roadside and got down from it. Police said while he was crossing the blocked stretch on foot, few stones that came rolling down the hill hit him on the head as a result of which he died on the spot. Police reached the spot after the matter was brought to their notice by some locals and evacuated the body to Surankote where post-mortem was on it in the hospital. It was later handed over to its family members for last rites. A case in this regard was registered at Surankote police station.
