Court grants bail to vet doctor, driver in corruption case | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 07: Special judge anti-corruption, Jammu, Pawan Dev Kotwal today
granted bail to veterinary doctor Manohar Lal who was caught red-handed by state
vigilance organization on September 3 last while accepting a bribe Rs 2,000 from
complainant Riyaz Ahmed Bhat. Granting the conditional bail, the judge observed that the doctor and driver were in
custody for last five days and nothing was required to be recovered from them as
investigation of the case appeared to almost complete. Lal, as per medical record, was also suffering from hypertension and diabetics.
Therefore, his further custody was at the cost of his health. Similarly, the other
accused was not directly involved in the commission of offence and therefore,
withholding of bail to him was also not warranted. With these observations, the court allowed the bail applications of both the accused
and admitted to bail with the direction to furnish bail and personal bond to the tune of
Rs 20,000 each on the condition that they would cause appearance before IO as and
when called.
