National Open FIDE rating Chess meet in Nov | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 07: After successfully holding four similar events in Jammu, All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association has decided to hold Rs one lakh prize money All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Championship in the Winter Capital in November. This was disclosed by president of the Association, Atul Gupta in a press conference held here this afternoon. “In this national event over 100 players of below 2000 rating from all over India shall complete for the top honours. The competition shall take place at Luthra College building, Talab Tillo from November six to November nine,” he said. To encourage the local budding talent, the Association has offered some concessions in entry fee. “As many as 30 local players can be adjusted in this national event by the host association, so we are looking forward to given chance to upcoming boys and girls this time,” informed general secretary, Baldev Raj. “We have experienced a see change in the playing style of a number of players, including Ritwan Sountra, Sumit Grover and a couple of young girls by way of exposure of playing against top rating opponents,” disclosed Atul, who himself is an international player. Hosting this mega event of national repute, that too with out any government support, the Association has expressed its sincere thanks to the management of Luthra College for extending the required infrastructure.
