EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Sep 8 :Parts of more than 20 electric transformers were stolen, resulting in total power breakdown in many villages in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.

Official sources said here today that a group of thieves went to different villages in south Kashmir of Kulgam early this week during late night hours and took away majority parts of more than 20 electric transformers besides wire, following which power supply to as many villages has been affected.

People of affected villages alleged that despite filing FIRs in different police stations in the district, no breakthrough was achieved so far.

"We want replacement of the transformers and resumption of power supply to our villages," the agitated villagers said alleging that despite presence of security force bunkers and patrol parties, the thieves took away the transformer parts.

They demanded that those involved in the crime should be arrested and punished as people of these villages, particuarly students, have been affected.
