| Run for Fun on Sept 10 | | Rajendra finalizes arrangements | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Sept 8 (KNS):The Additional Director General of Police, Armed/L&O, K. Rajendra Kumar today chaired a high level meeting to review the arrangements made for Ist. Marathon “Run for Fun” to be held in Srinagar on September 10, 2011. The meeting was held at Police Golf Course, which is also venue for the event and was attended by various senior police officers and sports personalities.
Addressing the meeting, Rajendra disclosed that the event is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme and a large number of people of different age groups have made their registration for participating in the Marathon. He said that the event is first of its kind in the valley and the people have shown much interest in participating in the Run. Having different categories, the Run would start from Police Golf Course Boulevard, Srinagar. Marathon open category would start their Run with first flag off ceremony at 5 a.m. and would return after covering a distance of 42 Kms. Half Marathon category for males would have to run a distance of 21.5 kms. which would start at 5.30 a.m. from the venue. Similarly senior citizens category and under 16 boys and girls would start their run from the venue and cover a distance of 4 and 12 kms. respectively, the ADGP added.
While finalizing the arrangements, the meeting was informed that all necessary arrangements have been made for transportation of the participants from various locations of the valley. Also the traffic arrangements on the routes of the Marathon would be ensured to avoid inconvenience to the participants and the public. Refreshment would be provided to the participants on the conclusion of the event and necessary security arrangements have also been made at the venue and on the routes of the Run.
The ADGP said that prize distribution ceremony would be held at 9 a.m. and 46 cash prizes in different categories, besides certificate of participation would be distributed.
