Jammu faces GS XI in women’s U-19 cricket final

JAMMU, Sept 08: Jammu district shall be playing against GS XI in the final of inter-district women’s under-19 cricket tournament underway at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Jammu awarded the match after MIER School left the field in protest while chasing a big target of 214 runs. Finding it difficult to attain the goal, especially in view of their five wickets loss in 4.4 overs, MIER girls leveled some allegations, which, however, they could not prove and left the field in protest.
Repeated requests by the umpires yielded no results and the match was awarded to Jammu district.
Earlier, Jammu set a mammoth total of 214 runs for the loss of three wickets in given 20 overs. Pooja was top scorer with 55 runs while Navneet contributed 29-ball 42 runs. From MIER Samba, Harneet took one wicket. This match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Pankaj Sasun while Madan Mohan was scorer.
Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, GS XI trounced district Rajouri by 100 runs. Batting first, GS XI made 143 runs for the loss of three wickets. Sandhya Sayal was top scorer with 24 runs, followed by Sarla Devi, who contributed 17. Heena Kousar and Aranthika added 14 runs each. From Rajouri district, Parveen claimed two wickets.
In reply, Rajouri bowled out for just 43 runs in 16.5 overs. No batswoman could touch the double figure mark. Sandhya Sayal and Akanksha clinched three and two wickets respectively. This match was officiated by Madan Mohan and BK Tickoo while Farooq Imran was scorer.
