| 5 Militants killed in separate militancy incidents | | | Jammu/Srinagar Dec 4
Security forces claimed to have killed 5 suspected militants in three separate encounters across Jammu and Kashmir since morning, while 4 policemen also received bullet injuries in the ensuing gun battle at one of the encounter site. Police sources told News Agency of Kashmir that two militants were killed when Army and police during a joint operation get on to a group of militants in the peripheries of Nachalana village, about 150 kilometers south of Srinagar. The Militants fired upon the searching party resulting into a fierce encounter. Two militants were killed in the ensuing gun battle that lasted for about two hours. In a separate incident, security forces closed on to a militant hide-out at Chandegi in North Kahmir resulting in a fierce gun fight. The encounter continued for an hour in which one foreign militant was killed. Three policemen including two CRPF and one SOG personnel also received bullet injuries during the encounter. On specific information generated by the district police, Bandipora police and 16 Bn of the CRPF laid an ambush in Village Peethikoot Chandegi Bandipora in the wee hours today. The killed foreign militant was identified as Gulbadan Khan Resident of Rawal Pandi Pakistan. According to the police the killed militant was involved in a number of civilian and police killings. One Hand Grenades, Pistol and a Pistol magazine were recovered from the slain militant. In yet another incident, security forces killed two Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Ramban area of Jammu division. According to officials here, the incident took place when police and 23 Rashtriya Rifles personnel raided a militant hideout in Khari area in Ramban, about 180 km from here. The exchange of fire continued for about two hours, resulting in the killing of two Hizb ultras.
