EARLY TIMES REPORT
Basantgarh, Sep 8: An Agriculture Technology Management Agency camp to educate and awaken the farming community was organized at Community Hall Basantgarh, headquarters of Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division under the guidance and support of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amit Sharma in which large number of farmers and local inhabitants participated hailing from Basantgarh, Shivgali, Phlungu, Rasli, Majouri, Chakka, Sia Meri, Kothi, Balota Upper, Traunglian, Baggan, Kirchi and Dudu areas of the Sub Division.
The main purpose behind organization of this camp was to create awareness about latest farming methodologies and techniques to be adopted especially during the ongoing rainy and above average monsoon season this year.
A detailed presentation of the facts was given by I/c AEO Rasli J.K Chaudhary and his team who answered lot of queries about the sowing season, type of plantation, fertilizers usage, proper harvesting, incentive schemes and other relevant topics on the subject. They also threw light on the relevance of ATMA and other useful drives such as provision of Vermi Composting units to progressive farmers, exposure tours to outside states and shared even success stories of farmers who have created big farming units on hilly terrains of the state.
It was also suggested that Farmer Friends Club should be constituted, one club per two villages across all the villages in Sub Division so that the community as a whole can fetch maximum benefit through them.
SDM Amit Sharma who was the chief mentor behind organizing this camp motivated the farmers who were present in large numbers to avail the best possible advantage of useful practical tips given by the department specialists and talked about re-energizing the agricultural sector with the adoption of innovative farming and plantation of cash rich crops as has already been successfully experimented with Saffron Plantation in Dudu Basantgarh last year.
At the same time, he assured that more and more Awareness Camps of Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Rural Development and other line departments are already planned which are to be organized in different nooks and corners of the Sub Division in the coming days.
