Agarwal inspects Central Jail Srinagar, holds darbar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 02:- Navin Agarwal, Director General of Prisons on today paid a visit to the Central Jail Srinagar. He was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Dr Mohammad Sultan Lone and Staff Officer Javid Ahmed Fazili. This was Agarwal’s first visit to any jail after his taking over as Director General of Prisons, Jammu and Kashmir. Agarwal had a round of the barracks, interacted with the inmates and asked them about the behaviour of the staff and legitimate facilities being provided. The inmates expressed their satisfaction. On the spot instructions were issued to the Technical Officer to undertake repairs and renovations of barracks, security pickets etc. On this occasion a Darbar was also held in which the staff members put forth their grievances responding to which Agarwal assured prison personnel of early redressal. In his address to jawans and officers, Agarwal highlighted the importance of prison department and termed it as an important organ of criminal justice system. He was unequivocal in making the jawans understand their responsibility and emphasized upon them to work with utmost commitment and without any pressure. He informed that welfare of personnel and their promotion avenues will be given priority.
