| HC directs Rajouri SSP to form SIT to investigate murder | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 08: High court judge, Justice Hasnain Massodi has directed SSP, Rajouri, to form SIT for the purpose of investigating into the murder of Karnail Singh alias Rano who was killed n September 12, 2009, at Phalni in Budhal, Rajouri.
The court directive came today in a petition filed by Rano's son in which he said though he extended all cooperation to the investigating agency and even identified suspects as Mohammad Saleem Khan and Sher Khan, both sons of Mohammad Sharief Khan of Behlla, Budhal, and also provided the material evidence connecting respondents with the murder, it had made no serious effort to trace the culprits and present the chargesheet against the accused in the court of law.
After hearing counsels of both sides, Justice Massodi disposed of the petition with the direction to SSP, Rajouri, to constitute SIT headed by DSP and comprising of at least two senior police officer to investigate the matter and pick up threads from the stage the investigating agency had left the investigation or concluding the investigating as untraced.
The court also said that the petitioner would be at liberty to associate with the investigation and provide all assistance to the SIT. The SIT should make efforts to conclude the investigation or take the investigation to its logical end within 12 weeks from the date a copy of the order was served upon the
respondent, the court directed.
