The party, observers believe need to improve their mathematics. Five is one plus four or two plus three. It can never be a large number of people. The `large number' of women is basically a group of five women identified as Balwinder Kour, Radha Devi, Rani Devi, Babali Devi, Kamlesh Devi and Sheetal Devi. The National Conference celebrated joining of `large number of women' in a grand function held at the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu in presence of Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta and Provincial President Women Wing Laxmi Datta. While joining the party, these ladies expressed their desire to work in the party to strengthen the party in their respective areas as they are convinced that NC is the only party which can lead the State in developmental era. Welcoming them in party fold, Gupta asserted that women are the important part of the society and constitute more 50 per cent of the population, as such their involvement in every sphere of life is must. Rashida Begum ex-Corporator was instrumental for joining of these ladies in the party. Those who were present on the occasion include Ayub Malik, Pardeep Bali, Kashmira Singh, Sanjay Gupta, S.S Bunty, Pankaj Kohli, Sarooj Gupta, Shipra, Manveer Kour, Uma Jamwal, Vinod Tak and others. Meanwhile, Gupta in a statement to press said that of Bhartiya Janata Party has no policies and programmes for the welfare of people of this State and they have miserably failed to raise the issues of people as an opposition party and now they are resorting to react on Chief Minister's tweet and are confusing the people. He further added that NC leadership and legislators are aware about their responsibilities and duties towards the people of State and need no guidance from any political party. They are also aware about the sensitive issue of Afzal Guru and its legality. He said BJP leaders of Jammu should set their own house in order instead of issuing statements levelling false and frivolous charges against NC and should not harp on sentimental and regional issues. They are welcome for healthy criticism and suggestions for the overall development of the State Gupta added.
