J&K VHA organizes training programme | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar Sept 9 :- J&K Voluntary Health Association today organized a Tuberculosis care and control sensitization training program for its NGO’s at their Headquarter, Pandrathen. The Chief Guest, Commissioner Secretary Health, Mr. G. A. Peer while addressing participants said that such kind of programmes would in the long run have good impact on the people from recusing themselves from the basic root cause of such fatal disease. He said the training programme for control of Tuberculosis under Axshaya project has been launched in four districts of Kashmir Valley during the current financial year. He also expressed hope that Axshaya project will also be implemented in other districts of the valley by the J & K Voluntary Health Association soon. He further said that the other affiliated NGO’s and their voluntaries will be fully trained by the experts for controlling the TB disease. Mr. Peer further said that the government is taking every possible step for eradicate this fatal disease by involving the services of civil society and said for it public private partnership is necessary. The Commissioner was today addressing after inaugurated a four days voluntary training programme organized by J & K Voluntary Health Association at Pandrathen. He said that the government alone can’t succeed in this great mission unless the representatives of civil society will not play an active role. He said that the two districts of the Kashmir Valley District, Srinagar and Budgam have been declared free smoking zones by J&K Voluntary Health Association and the people have been provided necessary information about the bad effects of the smoking and utilization of other drugs. He assured the Voluntary Associations that the government will cooperate with them on execution of their programme for the welfare of the common people particularly victims of TB and other fatal disease. Earlier, the convener of JK VHA, Mr. A.M. Mir highlighted the role of their Association and the steps taken by them for eradication of this disease by organizing training programme throughout the valley. District Tuberculosis officers of various districts including Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla and Kupwara were present in the workshop and highlighted their achievements before the Commissioner Secretary. Dr. Batnagar, expert TB doctor from Delhi has also delivered the lecture on the subject
