Cong appeals separatists to participate in dialogue process | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 9: An extra-ordinary meeting was held today in Jammu at the residence of AICC member and former cabinet Minister Abdul Gani Vakil. Function was attended by senior congress leaders, former ministers, state congress office-bearers and representatives of frontal organizations. The meeting was presided over by Abdul Gani Vakil. They were unanimous in extending an appeal to separatists to come on the negotiating table and make an attempt to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue. They expressed satisfaction over the massive participation of the people of J&K in Panchayat Polls and smooth and peaceful conducting of Amarnath Yatra. But, at the same time, they expressed concern over missing of accountability in administration, red tape and increase in corruption. They further said that Congress cannot remain silent on an issue which damages the very reputation of the government. Leaders also took a potshot at the unpredictable BJP for bringing ethics and moral duty in public life to an all time low by indulging in the ‘Cash for Vote’ episode. An appeal was made to all the political and especially mainstream parties to shirk from playing politics over the issue of Afzal Guru and restrain from exploiting sentiments of people. Prominent among others who participated in the discussion included Janak Raj Gupta, former MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dr. Romesh Sharma, Gharu Ram, Ashok Sharma, Ram Dass Dogra, Narinder Singh Raju, Manmohan, Rani Baloria, Vinod Sharma, Vinod Mishra, Brij Mohan Sharma, Hamid, Ashok Sharma, Maheshwar Singh, Vipan Nischal, Jugal Kishore, Hukam Chand, Mustafa Azad, R. S. Pathania, Amit Manhas, Namrata Sharma, Shivang Satya Gupta, Mehboob Azad, Abhimanyu, Varun Magotra, Bharat Priye and wide galaxy of Congress leaders.
