JAMMU, Sept 09: The state vigilance organization today presented challan in the
court of special judge anti-corruption, Jammu, against Harbans Lal, patwari halqa
Ratnal,l Bishnah, who was caught red-handed on August 19, 2010, while allegedly
demanding and accepting Rs 4,000 as bribe from the complainant.
He was released on bail on August 23, 2010, by the court.
According to the case, Sham Lal, son of Natha Ram of Ratnal, lodged a written
complaint with SVO, stating therein that since he was having 15 kanals of land at
Ratnal, he had requested Bishnah tehsildar for the issuance of a copy of missal hakiat
with regard to the said land.
Accordingly, the tehsildar endorsed the application to patwari Harbans Lal of Ghagwal,
who on receipt of the application demanded Rs 4000 as bribe from the complainant to
do the needful.
On the basis of Sham's complaint, SVO laid a trap and caught the patwari red-handed
while demanding and accepting Rs 4,000 as bribe from the complainant.
