Firm approach must to deal with terrorism: Chaman | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 9: Disapproving moves to seek clemency or leniency for persons involved in acts of terrorism, Member assembly, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that terrorism is a threat to the mankind and it should be dealt with firm approach. But it is unfortunate that certain elements are directly and indirectly indulging in acrobats to help this menace under communal and some other considerations although terrorism has no religion or ethics, said Chaman. Expressing surprise over controversial statements of the Chief Minister Sh.Omer Abdullah over the issue of gallows for the convict of attack on Indian Parliament, Gupta observed that such like utterances are encouraging secessionists and anti-national tendencies. Referring to reports that some mentors from the valley are contemplating to bring a resolution in the Assembly to seek clemency for Afzal Guru, Gupta said that it is beyond the limits of the legislature to sit on a judgment of the Apex Court and hoped the Speaker would look into any such move which is not in conformity with the rules of business. He expressed his concern over the silence of the Congress on this important issue especially when its coalition partner is out to indulge in controversial utterances. He condemned the Delhi High Court blast and said that this blast should be eye opener to those who are suggesting clemency for those whose hands are drenched with blood of innocents.
