| Mufti cases cracks in NC | | `Poonch, Rajouri visit very fruitful' | | Early Times Report
Surankote, Sept 9: Former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayed has caused cracks in National Confernce `strong' foundation in twin district of Poonch and Rajouri.
During his two day visit to the twin districts, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron has dealt a severe blow to the National Conference. Admitting the damage caused by Mufti, NC big wigs said he has attracted many people during his two day visit.
The first crack appeared in the NC when Mufti criticized the party during his speech in Parade ground, Poonch. Impressed by the speech, a senior National Conference leader Shahzad Khan joined PDP. Several politicians followed suit much to the discomfort of the NC leadership. Mufti scored a point when he visited the house of Senior NC leader and former MLC Mir Nazir of Rajouri who died recently. Although Mir Nazir had served NC for 50 years, neither Omar Abdullah nor Farooq Abdullah condoled his demise.
NC received yet another shock when half a dozen social workers and NC members joined PDP in presence of Mufti. Mufti also gained much political milege by participating in the mourning of Peer Aftab Shah at Pamrote village
Even former minister and NC leader of the area Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari could not express sympathy with the family of Peer Aftab. |
