J&K hub of terrorism, terror e-mail confirms: BJP | Would Omar still asks for revocation of AFSPA? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 9: With tracing of email claiming responsibility of terror attack of September 7 at Tis Hazari Court complex New Delhi has turned down the claims of State government about the restoration of normalcy in this trouble torn state of J&K. The BJP as well as other political and social organizations have also criticized the coalition Government for demanding revoking of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and removal of Disturbed Areas Act. The BJP while taking the Government to task for demanding revocation of AFSPA on the plea that there was a total change in the ground situation in the state has said that email which claimed responsibility for Delhi blast shows that the J&K is still hub of terrorism and mastermind of all terror networks across the country. A party spokesman said that Omar Abdullah led coalition was misleading the centre on J&K situation and revocation of AFSPA and withdrawal of army from militancy infested areas will prove suicidal. He said BJP has always opposed any move in this regard and it for starting of combing operations in militancy infested areas to smash the entire network of terrorists. Ridiculing the Government claims about normalcy in the state, he said cross border infiltration still continues and a large number of militants have already sneaked into the state. The Army Chief had also termed the situation alarming but the State Government led by Omar Abdullah to please its political constituency in Kashmir was misleading the Centre, he added. Cautioning the Union Government against any hasty step in revocation of AFSPA and army from the state, he said that decision will take the state to square one position again. As already a large number of militants have sneaked from Poonch and Kupwara sectors across LOC. Agreeing with BJP's stand VHP state president Dr Rama Kant Dubey held both state and central governments weak-kneed policies responsible for the spread of terror network in the country. Had the Centre taken a tough action against the terrorists and their harborers the situation would have been altogether different. He also criticized the Government for delaying the execution of dreaded terrorists Afzal Guru and Ajmal Kassab saying such acts are emboldening the terrorists and anti national elements. The lack of initiative on Union Government to corner Pakistan and force it to smash terrorist camps on its soil is another reason for increasing terrorist attacks in India, Dr Dubey said, adding had the India taken a stand on its own and attacked the terrorist training camps across the border the Pakistan would have not dared to allow the re-grouping of the ultras on its soil. But the soft policy of the Union Government is responsible for this all. Expressing grave concern over the deep rooted terror network in J&K, Hindustan Shiv Sena chief Dimpy Kohli said that it seems that J&K is on a volcano and if immediate steps were not taken to smash the terror network in the state, entire nation would have to pay a heavy price for it. He alleged that despite the pleas of some social activists from Doda and Kishtwar districts regarding presence of terrorists in upper reaches of the area the authorities have paid a deaf ear to it. If this network is not smashed immediately and the overground and under-ground activists arrested the situation can take an ugly turn. Kohli said that the Union Government should take an initiative on its own in smashing the terror network in the state which very deep rooted and it should not be dependent on State Government for any help or assistance in this regard. Any more delay will prove tantamount to national interests, he added. KP leaders Kundan Kashmiri and Ramesh Manwati also took the State Government to task for making hollow claims regarding improvement of situation in J&K and restoration of normalcy. The situation is turning from bad to worse they added. The way terrorists are deeply rooted in the state running their network in entire country shows that peace is a distant dream in the state. The two KP leaders also expressed apprehensions about the safety of their community men who lured to return to Kashmir under PM's employment package. ``We are concerned for their security and safety in view of presence of terrorists and their harborers in the state'', said Kashmiri. He also cautioned the community against any return formula formulated by Government saying it will be premature and prove against the interests of the community. |
