| CM telephones DCs to ensure supply of essentials | | | Jammu, Dec 4 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today issued instructions to the Divisional Commissioner concerned and all District Development Commissioners of winter zone to ensure smooth supply and piling of buffer stocks of essential commodities in the far-off and rural areas where roads normally get blocked by snow fall and slides. He personally talked to each District Development commissioner on phone giving the directions to this affect. He said people should not feel any discomfort on account of supply and distribution of essentials like food grains, vegetables, K. Oil and LPG. He directed the authorities to keep men and machinery alert to face any eventuality caused by weather vagaries during the winter months. Asking for opening control rooms by all public utility departments, he directed the administrative and engineering departments concerning road clearance to keep snow clearing equipment available at all areas especially nearer the vulnerable points. He said that PHE, PDD, CAPD and other public service departments should geared up to face any challenge during winter months. Chief Minister directed District Development Commissioners to keep constant eye on market prices and not in any case allow black markets and unscrupulous elements to make the hay while sun shines in the garb of blockade of roads or heavy snowfall. He directed them to drive home to every functionary at the block, tehsil and district levels to be responsive to people’s requirements and render services with devotion and zest. Mr. Azad also asked Srinagar Municipal Corporation and all Municipal Committees of winter zone to be ready to shoulder responsibilities during snowfall and inclement weather. He said Corporators have all the most earnest responsibility to seek people’s comforts during unpleasant winter and ensure that supply and distribution of essential commodities remain smooth and regular in the urban areas. Chief Minister asked them to take every measure to be ready to clear the interior roads, lanes and by-lanes whenever snowfall takes place and threatens blockades. He said snow clearing operations should be launching without delays so that people do not feel disturbed by disruption of communication links. Divisional Commissioner and DDC’s informed Chief Minister that sufficient stocks have been created in every area and all measures taken to ensure smooth supply and distribution of essentials. They also assured him that administration will live up to the trust and render devotional service to the people in all times. |
