| PDP calls for probe into Hanief murder | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, September 10: PDP has called for a thorough probe into the murder of Mohammad Hanief, a party worker of district Bandipora and called for an end to political vandalism in Sonawari area.
Mohammad Hanief was murdered by a group of ruling NC goons yesterday even after police has been repeatedly requested to intervene and bring the ruling party activists under control. Many representations had been made to police at different levels about the impending threat to PDP workers and Hanief in particular.
In a press statement issued here today, the party general secretary Mohd Dilawar Mir while condemning the killing of Hanief said the PDP district president and other office bearer has made repeated complaints to the district police administration about the unruly conduct of certain ruling party workers who had threatened Hanief and others in the village.
He said, “It is unfortunate that under political pressure the police failed to take action in time resulting in the unfortunate killing of Hanief a 32 year old young man who has left behind four small kids and a young widow”.
The tragedy could have been averted if the police had treated the complaints with seriousness and had not shown bias towards the ruling party goons who have become a menace to public peace in Sonawari.
He said that four Tehsildars has been transferred in three years time in Sonawari because of their refusal to do unlawful things desired by the local NC leadership. Similarly engineering staff and the functionaries of other departments are finding it difficult to work under rules, as the NC wants everything done according to the priorities of its cadre.
Cautioning the administration about the trouble in the area, Mir said NC muscle men were harassing and threatening their political rivals and common people in many other villages like Sadarkote Balla, Nowgam, Gundjahangir and other places.
He said, “It should be the responsibility of the administration to maintain peace and bring justice to all the people of the area which is facing the terror of the NC cadre.
