Vitasta celebrated with fervor

JAMMU, September 10: Vitasta Triyodeshi (Vyath Truvah) was celebrated today on September 10 by Kashmira Vahini on the banks of river Chandrabagha with gaiety and religious fervor where in large number of Kashmiri Pandit women along with men folk participated in these celebrations.
Rajinder Park wore a festive look on this occasion. The program started with hoisting of the flag of Kashmira Vahini accompanied by holocaust dhun.
Swami Kumar ji and Swami Pran Nath ji Garib the two prominent living saints inaugurated the celebrations and threw light on “Vitasta Divas” and also on its religious significance.
The two Aashrams these saints are heading were felicitated on this occasion for their immense contribution to the propagation of religious teachings, culture and Kashmiri language. Dr. Manmohan Jyotshi was also felicitated for his contribution to the ritualistic order of the Pandit community.
Sudesha Kaul coordinator of the program welcomed the saints, artists, poets, intellectuals and the people who had turned in large numbers for these celebrations. While welcoming the gathering she expressed her happiness over the overwhelming response vahini got from KP community and women in particular in organizing this year’s Vitasta Celebration across the country. She informed that many community members from abroad did send their wishes and reverence for Mata Vitasta.
Eminent Artists like Kailsash Mehra, Naina Saproo, Deepali Wattal and Shri Ravi Bhan enthralled the gathering by their musical concert. Budding child artists Tanshika Tikoo and Anekate Hashia left audience spell bound by musical recitation of Lalvakhs and shlokas in the praise of river goddess vitasta. Raj Kumari Razdan and Santosh Nadan recited their poems in the programme.
A skit written by J K Kaul Bezaan produced by Pradeep Pandita and performed by Pammy Zutshi and Dolly about Vitasta was highlight of the celebrations.
Khema Kaul spokesperson of Kashmira Vahini presented an overall review of Vahini. She emphasized the role Kashmira Vahini has been performing with regard to removing the draconian conditions attached to PM’s employment package and simultaneously drawing the attention of the President of India and Governor of J&K state to the pathetic conditions of living in Jagati, enhancement of relief to 20,000 per month, enactment of protection of Temple Bill, mischievous attempts of changing name of Villages, hillocks, and like recent one of changing name of Srinagar to Shahar-e-Khas.
Kashmira Vahini felicitated on this day Meenu Kak who was awarded this year’s best teacher award from the President of India and Mohan Singh, a noted social activist from Jharkhand whose support to Kashmira Vahini in its formative years has been praise worthy. Dr. Agnishekhar convener Panun Kashmir threw light on the reasons behind celebrating such cultural, religious and historically rich event and said that history is concomitant of religious and ritualistic activities.
Kashmiri Pandits being the original inhibitants of Kashmir have been failed by the present political arrangement and are for geo-political resolution which facilitates their irreversible return to their homeland in Kashmir.
The concluding part of the function was traditional Aarti of the River Goddess Veth and “Deep Pravah”, which presented a scene of spectacular synthesis of devotion and dedication on the banks of Chandrabhaga. The exiled community members prayed for early celebration of the event in Homeland in Kashmir for which a vow was taken to keep the struggle for achieving the goal of Homeland.
The vote of thanks was presented by Sushma Rishi and the program was conducted by Prof. Phoola Kaul.
