BJP Mahila Morcha lambasts Omar on Afzal Guru issue
9/10/2011 10:25:38 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sep 10: Stepping up its campaign against Omar Abdullah’s statements against Afzal Guru’s hanging, BJP today fielded its Mahila Morcha for a massive demonstration and protest in the heart of Jammu city.
Led by Morcha State President Sakina Bano, hundreds of BJP Mahila Morcha activists held a protest demonstration at Kachi Chawni Chowk against the utterances of State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah advocating mercy to Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. The morcha activists were carrying placards with slogans advising Omar Abdullah to remain in sense and stop making such statements.
Sakina Bano, speaking on the occasion, said that various courts of the country has held Afzal Guru responsible for attack on highest temple of democracy, the Parliament of India, and his conviction has been endorsed by the Supreme Court as well as the President of India but it is indeed unfortunate that the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah is playing the communal card for appeasing a particular faith. Such statement by Omar Abdullah is against the spirit of the Constitution and by doing so he is committing a crime.
Sakina Bano reminded Omar Abdullah that Afzal Guru was the master-mind in hatching conspiracy to attack Parliament. Anyone who indulges in such an act can not be pardoned because of his being born in a particular faith to which Omar too belongs. She said that Afzal Guru has attacked the sovereignty of India and is also responsible for killing of a number of innocent securitymen. Will the chief minister reply whether one who commits crime should be spared just because that might help Omar Abdullah consolidate his vote constituency. She also alleged that the chief minister has proved a failure on all fronts and by making such statements he is trying to deviate the attention of people from his own lapses. She also took to task the Congress ministers in the government and asked them to shed the “Kursi Prem” and come out openly against the anti-national stand of NC leadership.
Suresh Jamwal, Usha Choudhary, Purnima Sharma, Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Raj Rani Jamwal, Priya Sethi, Sudarshan Kour, Santosh Bhagat, Pushpa Wazir, Sureshta Jamwal, Anju Devi, Sangita Gupta, Parven Arora, Saroj Gupta, Vidhya Devi, Poonam, Shashi Bala, Sweety Koul, Renu Khajuria, Suresh Kumari and Chinta Dogra were prominent among those who took part in this protest demonstration.
