‘Peaceful atmosphere imperative for comprehensive development’
Karra visits Banihal, Ramban and Gool

Jammu, Dec 4
Minister for Finance and Planning Mr. Tariq Hamid Qarra during extensive tour of Chenab valley visited Ramban, Banihal, Gool and a number of villages enroute to take stock of progress of various developmental works.
“State has witnessed a “boom” on the developmental sector since coalition government took over by launching net-work of schemes in almost all sectors”, Mr. Karra said and added that public infrastructure like roads, bridges and buildings were made good to serve people. He said development is a by-product of a peaceful atmosphere and in this regard coalition government has initiated bold steps.
At Banihal while addressing a mammoth gathering Mr. Karra said that Government is contemplating to discuss with railway authorities the issue relating to provision of employment to the unskilled sector to local youth at Banihal Railway Junction. He said all issues brought to his notice by the people during his tour will be given due consideration.
The Minister also had a meeting with management of Baglihar Hydroelectric Project wherein he was apprised about the pace of progress of the Project. He was told that at least 75% of civil work and 95% of mechanical part of the project have been completed.
Baglihar Hydroelectric Project with a capacity of 450 MW is situated near Chanderkote Ramban on River Chenab.
The management also told the Minister that the Project body also extends services like fresh water supply and medicare facilities to the people of adjoining areas.
The Minister while addressing a gathering at Gool said that area has a tremendous tourist potential which will be developed in due course of time. He assured the people that black-topping of the Sangal Daan-Gool road will be taken up on priority. He also said that a new treasury building and a hydraulic point for meeting the water requirements of Fire-Services will also be considered sympathetically besides construction of hostel for employees.
