PCS celebrates pre-primary annual day-2011

SRINAGAR, Sept 10: Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School (PCHSS) Rajbagh, Srinagar celebrated its Pre-Primary Annual Day function, here today.
Usha Vohra, First Lady, was the Chief Guest at the function. Speaking on the occasion, first lady observed that ethical and moral values are crucial components along with academics, for balanced personality development of youth and stressed the need of adequate attention being given to this aspect of education.
Referring to spectacular cultural programme presented by tiny tots on the occasion, she said that this demonstrates their talents and the hard work which the children and their teachers have put in preparing this presentation. She added that the environment of the educational institutions and in the homes of the children have an important influence on their growth and personality development, which goes a long way in grooming them as responsible citizens.
Lady Governor said that those who are more fortunate and better placed should think of taking care of those who are not so lucky so that the latter can also enjoy an adequately enabling environment to grow and progress. Referring to the Presentation Convent School, she said that it was gratifying to learn that it had been providing quality education to the children for the past over seven decades and hoped that the school would continue to endeavour for achieving continuing improvement in the standard of all round development of the children. Sister Jyoti Thomas, Principal of the School, presented a memento to the First Lady, while a tiny tot presented a potted plant to her as a memorabilia of her visit to the School.


The First Lady presented sweets to the School for distribution to their children. Earlier, on arrival at the School, Vohra was received by the Principal, teachers, staff, children and their parents.
In her welcome address, Sister Reggy, Vice-Principal of the School, gave details of the endeavours made by this institution in imparting quality education to the children during the past 75 years. Tiny tots of the school presented a captivating colourful cultural programme comprising action songs and skits which was appreciated by all those present on the occasion. Poonam presented vote of thanks.
