Herbal talk and plantation programme held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, September 11: A ‘Tree’ plantation program with herbal talk was organized in J&K Cultural and Arts Academy Jammu. Savita Bakshi, the Additional Secretary flagged off the plantation programme amidst a large number of tree lovers and environmentalists. Van Sampda a NGO for environment and medicinal plants collaborated in the function along with JSB society and Sahyog India. Their members planted a tree each in the grounds of the academy and extended their full cooperation in beautifying the lawns.
K R Padha, IAS and K K Sharma, Director floriculture Jammu briefed the importance and benefits for health purposes of each species of the tree planted in the function. The species included Amaltas, Bill, Kachnar, Neem, Amla, Jamun, and China Rose, which are all well known for their medicinal values. Devendra Sharma, General Secretary of Van Sampda appreciated the gesture of Cultural Academy for hosting the plantation drive, which is one of the prime concerns of present times. Among others who addressed the gathering were Susham Sharma, AGM J&K Bank, Advocate Rajiv Sharma, Anil Gaind, Lalit Gupta of Sahyog India, O P Bakshi of JSB Society and a noted tree lover S Manjit Singh.
