Mehbooba, Soz, Hakim, Tarigami welcome Khan’s Kashmir visit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sept 11 (KNS): Various mainstream leaders including Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti and State Congress President Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz Sunday welcomed former Pakistan-administrated-Kashmir President Sardar Atiqque Khan’s visit to Kashmir and urged the center to allow him travel hassle free. Talking to KNS Mehbooba said, “Central government should have no problem in allowing Khan to visit Kashmir. It is a good opportunity to strengthen Confidence Building Measures and center shouldn’t waste it.” “If he (Khan) will meet separatist and mainstream leaders here, it will be a positive development,” she added. Commenting on Khan’s statement that two parts of the state should be declared ‘free trade zone’, Mehbooba told KNS that it was her party’s demand since long. Prof Soz said that if Khan was granted permission it will be a good beginning. “Both India and Pakistan should take steps for strengthening CBMs as situation is ripe for that,” Prof Soz told KNS. He termed Khan’s statement that he will meet both separatists as well as mainstreams as a welcome step. Peoples Democratic Front Chairman and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin while welcoming Khan’s visit to Kashmir said, “He (Khsn) is former PM and represents a large area of the state.” “His visit is a big and positive development,” Hakim told KNS. The State Secretary CPI (M) and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami said he had been saying it from last so many years that people from both sides of the Kashmir should be allowed to meet each other frequently. “It is our stand. Such interactions will pave way for final resolution of Kashmir dispute,” Tarigami told KNS. Khan son of former PM of PaK has been invited Zahoor Ahmad Watali, a Srinagar-based leading businessman and head of Trison Group, to attend the marriage of his son scheduled in mid-September. The marriage ceremony of Dr Yasir Shah is scheduled from September 17 to 19. Khan would be accompanied by a 20-member delegation comprising his family members, legislators, intellectuals and mediamen. The delegation is scheduled to travel to the Valley through Muzaffarabad-Srinagar road.
