Sham Lal tours Leh, orders detachment of dental surgeon

Jammu, Sep 11: During tour of Leh for three days Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma inagurated Mass Awarness Campaign on NRHM activities which was organised in the premises of Indus Hotel Choglamsar Leh on September 10 to create general awareness among the common masses regarding various components of NRHM.
The awareness campaign was attended by more than 1000 people included District Officers, Councillors, Sarpanchs, Panchs, prominent citizens, medical, para-medical staff of Health Department, ASHAs, and AWW’s of the district.
Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture was the chief guest, Rigzin Spalbar, Executive Councillor LAHDC presided over the function and Sonam Wangchok, Executive Councillor (Health), Executive Councillor (Agriculture) and Nurboo Gyaltson MLC, Leh were the guests of honour.
Yashpal sharma, Mission Director NRHM J&K apprised the participants about the vaious objectives and components of NRHM programme.
He informed that, since the introduction of NRHM in December 2005, the health indicators in the State have shown a remarkable improvement which has happened because of the creation of new infrastructure and appointment of qualified and trained manpower in the rural areas of the State.
He appreciated the work of ASHAs and said that this big work force of 10000 ASHAs in the State is the back bone of the NRHM.
While speaking on the occasion the MLC, Executive Councillor Health, and Chief Executive Councillor appreciated the efforts of the department in creating the awareness amongst the all stake holders in such an organised way and hope that creation of awareness about the programme will go a long way in blooming the health care services of the State.
Sham Lal Sharma, in his address assured them of all help and intimated that District Leh is one of the high focus districts and this year will be provided with a Medical Mobile Unit, Critical Care Ambulance, Birth waiting room in one of the remote PHC.
He also announced to provide 7 ambulances for the district and issued on spot instructions to Director Health Services Kasmir to send at least 3 ambulances before the road is closed.
Minister also announced detachment of 11 Dental Surgeons who are attached at Srinagar on the post of Leh.
He issued on spot instructions to Director Health Services Kashmir for implementing this order. On demand from public Leh and LAHDC for appointing a radiologist in District Hospital(SNM) Leh Health Minister issued directions to Mission Director NRHM and Director Health Servicers Kashmir to interview and appoint one retired doctor radiologist and his order was issued on spot for providing his services to people of the district.
Director ISM, Director State AIDS Control Society, DDC Leh, officers from State Health Society and senior officers from Health and District Administration were also present on the occasion.
