EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sep 11: Alleging large scale irregularities in the expenditure incurred on the hosting of inter University event Virasat-e-Riyasat event, the Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) has demanded from the Jammu University to make its expenditure public.
Addressing a press conference here today, University Unit president JYF Balbeer Kumar alleged that a wasteful expenditure was made by the University on that event neglecting the needs of students and scholars.
The budget of the event was misappropriated by the office of Dean Students Welfare. The money spent on the paper was much more than what actually spend. The number of participants was much lower but on paper the participation was shown much higher hence, large sum was misappropriated.
Whereas, the welfare activities for students and scholars have been stopped for the want of money, which is highly unfortunate.
Kumar demanded from the Dean Student Welfare Dr N K Tripathi to share the expenditure details with the students and scholars so that truth is unearthed.
Besides, he also demanded the conduct the student union election as the same had been approved by the University Council and VC has left with no choice but to conduct the election.
If the expenditure of Virasat E Riyasat will not be made public and also election be not conducted shortly, the students would not left with any other than to launch agitation against the Dean Student Welfare for an indefinite period.
Ram Kumar, Amit Gupta, Sanjay Gupta and Jyoti Sharma participated.
