| Sarpanch alleges humiliation by police | | | UDHAMPUR: The sarpanch of Bain in Chenani here today alleged that he and panchs of his panchayat were humiliated, abused and harassed by the SHO of Chenani police station.
Talking to media here, Bain sarpanch Rakesh Chand Anthal said he and panchs gathered outside the village school building to oppose its inauguration by the MLA concerned.
He said they were against the inauguration ceremony because the school building was "unsafe" as its lantern had collapsed few days back.
However, before they could bring the matter to the notice of the MLA, Chenani police station SHO reached there and allegedly abused them, asking them to leave the spot, he added.
Anthal alleged that the SHO threatened to book them in false cases if they did not disperse.
He said if senior police officers failed to take action against the SHO, they would be forced to come on the road and move court against the police officer.Anthal also alleged that poor quality material was used in the construction of the school and demanded a probe into the alleged bunglings. |
