BJP protests Omar’s statement on Afzal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 12: In continuation to its state wide protests against the statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Afzal Guru, hundreds of BJP activists of Janipur Mandal held a massive protest demonstration at Sarwal Chowk. Led by their Mandal President Praduman Singh, the BJP activists raised slogans against the Chief Minister “Omar Abdullah Hosh Mein Aao, Hosh Mein Aao” and burnt his effigy. Praduman Singh, while addressing the party activists on the occasion, said that no one is above the law of the land. Be it a common citizen or Chief Minister, all ought to respect the law and honour what the courts decide. Making statement advocating clemency for a terrorist can not be tolerated and those indulging in such acts should remember that the nationalist people will never allow them to utter whatever they like without thinking about the consequences. Praduman Singh said that it is not for the first time that our Chief Minister has made such a statement which is indicator of his communal mindset. In the past too, same Omar Abdullah’s statement over the Amarnath Land row brought people on roads and Jammu observed complete bandh for 63 days. This Chief Minister has been making all out efforts to appease a particular faith in order to keep his constituency in Kashmir intact realising the fact that the people have lost faith in his government and their anger may burst any time. Praduman Singh further said that after 9/11 attack in USA, no such incident re-occurred but in India there has been more than three dozen terrorist attacks after Parliament attack. It is so because UPA lacks will to tackle the menace of terrorism and moreover the statements issued by political leaders in favour of terrorists convicted for their crimes encourages these elements, which is indeed a matter of concern. He advised the CM to abandon the policy of appeasement and work for boosting the morale of nationalist forces in the state. He also appealed the people not to get misled by such statements as these are politically motivated and have the potential of disturbing the social fabric.
