PP Sharma nominated Chairman SEIAA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 12: Govt of India, Ministry of Environment & Forests has reconstituted State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) for Jammu & Kashmir. PP Sharma, Ex Principal Chief Conservator of Forests has been nominated as chairman of three member authority. To assist this Central Govt has also constitute the State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) comprising of experts. Both SEIAA & SEAC shall function for the next three years. Under Environment Protection Act 1986 and Notification dated September 14, 2006 large number of projects such as mining River Valley Project, Thermal Power Plants, Cement Plants, Metallurgical Industry. Sugar Industry Industrial Estate, Aerial Ropeways, State High ways. Effluent Treatment Plants, Solid Waste Management Plants etc need prior Environment Clearance for the new projects or the expansion or modernization of the existing project or activity.
