Court awards 5-yr imprisonment to SI who got job on forged documents | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 12: Third additional sessions judge Sanjay Parihar today awarded five years imprisonment to Deepak Kapoor who had obtained job as sub-inspector in police on the basis of forged documents. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him. According to the police case, crime branch had received a letter and inquiry file from its headquarters for the registration of a case against the accused. In a letter addessed to DGP, the then DIG (Jammu range) S P Vaid said that an information from a reliable source was received in his office that Deepak had got selected in police as SI on the basis of fake B.Sc. provisional certificate and marks sheet of Magadh University. On inquiry by him the information was found to be based on facts and hence a case was registered against Deepak under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of RPC.On the completion of investigation, police concluded that the accused had fraudulently, intentionally and dishonestly managed and used fake B.Sc. degree as genuine, cheated police department and caused gain to him and corresponding loss to the state exchequer by getting appointment as police SI. He received Rs 34,066 as monthly salary from police training academy, Udhampur, where an amount of 4,498.87 was still outstanding against him on account of mess charges. Police later found that two cases were already registered against him Gandhi Nagar police station under sections 392, 342 and 201 of RPC and under sections 420, 411, 467, 468 and 471 of RPC. Parihar, after hearing the counsels of the two sides, observed that having regard to the fact that the accused had undergone a trial for eight years for offence under section 471 of RPC, he was sentenced to undergo an imprisonment for three years. A fine of Rs 5,000 was also imposed.
