| Effective measures to be taken against child labour: Mangat | | |
JAMMU | DEC 4 “State government is formulating a policy to effectively deal with the menace of child labour. Under the policy, a committee would be constituted to discuss the ways and means for putting an end to the menace of child labour and begging”, said Minister for Health and Medical Education, Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma in an inauguration function held at Government Girls High School (GGHS), Resham Ghar Colony this morning. Sharma inaugurated the four newly constructed rooms of the school along with a verandah complex. Sharma has provided the funds for the construction of new rooms out of his constituency development funds. Stressing upon the need to eradicate child labour, Sharma said that rehabilitation scheme is being finalized for the rehabilitation of the victims of child labour. He reiterated the resolve of the state government to remove all the social evils from the society at an earliest. He also expressed satisfaction over the pace with which the rooms have been constructed. Chairman, Health and Sanitation Committee, JMC was also present on the occasion. Earlier, Principal of the school presented the welcome address and highlighted the achievements made by the school and also put forth their demands before the Minister. He demanded the separate room facility for the laboratory and library. He also demanded special power for the Head of the Institution for financial as well as academic aspects. School also presented various cultural items on the occasion.
