Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 12: If Srinagar Airport lounge is always open for separatists; the summer capital's circuit house is no Greek to separatists from Jammu region. It can refuse to accommodate scribes from Jammu but separatists deserve a better deal. They cannot be refused accommodation because separatism sells in Kashmir.
Last week a delegation from Jammu Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) visited Kashmir and stayed in the Circuit House. The JKPM considers Jammu Kashmir a disputed territory and seeks its resolution in accordance with the wishes of the people. The JKPM is largely Rajouri based and represented by a former army man, Ghulam Ahmad Mir who was recently released from jail for his activities.
The delegation is led the vice chairman of the organization, Qaiser Sajad . A close relative of Mir, Shahid Saleem who also happens to be a journalist coordinates the delegation's meetings in Srinagar. The delegation has called on Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Nayeem Khan who heads the National Front. The delegation has sought proper representation of Jammu region in Mirwaiz Hurriyat. It has also accused the leaders of neglecting the Jammu region.
The Mirwaiz, according to a statement issued by JKPM has agreed to open the Hurriyat Conference office in Jammu shortly to reach the people living in far-flung areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda and Kishtwar.
Mirwaiz also hailed the sacrifices offered by Jammu people since 1947. "We cannot ignore the Jammu people who have always played a vital role in the freedom movement", he said.
The delegation's stay in the circuit house has surprised, rather shocked various quarters including some separatists. According to them, people pursuing anti-Indian agenda should not stay in a building owned and run by the government. Others have sought an explanation from the in charge Circuit House for allowing misuse of government property by separatists.
