Early Times Report
JAMMU, September 13: The activists of National Secular Forum (NSF) gherao the office of Dean Student Welfare against the prevailing mismanagement in the campus. They highlighted the problem of the chaotic parking system in the University. The students shouted slogans against the Dean and held him responsible for the entire chaos.
Addressing the gathering, NSF Chairman University Unit Ravi Choudhary alleged that there was no proper system for parking. People park vehicles as per their will. Some of the people ride motorcycles right into the middle of the campus which is no entry zone. But the security people turn mute spectator to the entire nuisance.
Choudhary asked what is the fun of having 120 security guards and 54 policemen if such a nuisance could not be controlled. He blamed Dean Student Welfare Prof N K Tripathi responsible for this entire mess.
The NSF activists also protested against the failure of air conditioning system in Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium. They said if the ACs in the rooms of officers and teachers can function well then why not the ACs in auditorium can be repaired. The Works Department never bothers to repair the facilities meant for students. He also held Dean responsible for the same and demanded immediate repair of the ACs.
Surjit Choudhary District Chairman alleged that Juice Corner in the University was overcharging from the students. Instead of Rs 12 per glass, a sum of Rs 15 per glass is charged from the students. Since, the office of Dean Students Welfare has not notified any rate list for the two years, the operator of Juice Corner has got opportunity to dupe the students. NSF demanded action against the defaulter and sought reply over it from the Dean Office..
Among those who were present in the protest included Surjit Choudhary, Manjit Singh, Ankit Raina, zulfikar, Mahinder kumar, Satwant Singh, Ashwani, Kumar, Manu Sharma, Rahul Sharma and others.
