HC stays the appointment of dental college principal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 13: High court judge, Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir today stayed the July
22, 2011, government order whereby Dr Romesh Singh, associate professor and head
of department of periodontics, was appointed as incharge principal of Indra Gandhi
Government Dental College, Jammu. The court issued notice to state through commissioner/secretary, health and medical
education, Dr Romesh and Dr Riyaz Farooq, principal of government dental college,
Srinagar, for filling objections. The court directive came in a petition filed by Dr Parveen Akhter Lone. She submitted
in the petition that Dr Romesh was ineligible and incompetent for the post of dental
college principal. She submitted that for holding the post of principal, the incumbent must have 10 years
experience, out of which five years experience should be as a professor. It may be mentioned that Dr Romesh was appointed incharge principal to run
day-to-day affairs of the college which had become headless. The government had made him incharge principal because he was the seniormost in
the college.
