EARLY TIMES REPORT
NEELTOP (BANIHAL), Sept 13, 2011: Making a mention of state’s vast rewsources, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti today accused the National Conference government of failure on the developmental front. She was addressing a gathering here today. The PDP chief today started an extensive tour of Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts.

The NC, she said, has always exploited the people for its petty interests. “Once in power, personal interests become their top priority”, she said. She observed and added backwardness and underdevelopment of many parts of the state was result of the wrong policies adopted by the successive NC regimes.

Lamenting the terrible condition of Banihal- Neel road, Mufti said far flung area were the worst victims of present government’s apathy and wrong policies. “Deplorable conditions of roads had led to death of hundreds of people during the last few years but the government is least bothered about such causalities on roads”, she regretted.

Highlighting achievements of PDP-Congress regime, she said with just 16 MLAs in its kitty, PDP led regime had carved out a path of equitable development in the State in which special priority was given to the backward and neglected areas. She especially mentioned various development projects initiated during the PDP-Congress in Banihal areas.

“PDP-Congress regime had succeeded in getting huge financial aid from Asian Development Bank (ADB) for creating infrastructure in the state, besides a package of worth Rs 24000 under Prime Minister’s Economic Package for Jammu and Kashmir”, she said and reminded the gathering that developmental activities were accelerated during that period. “A number of schools were upgraded besides opening of new colleges and universities in different areas of the state”, she said, adding, “Primary Health Centres were opened in many remote areas to provide health facilities to the people at their door steps”.

Mufti, however, regretted that the present government has failed to carry forward the agenda of development which was initiated during PDP-Congress regime. “The present regime has spoiled the atmosphere of peace and reconciliation created by the previous PDP-Congress government”,, she regretted.

“The only achievement of the three year tenure of this regime is to legalize corruption and nepotism and inflicting atrocities on innocent people”, she observed, adding, “all the development projects started during previous PDP-Congress regime have been stalled”.

Speaking on the occasion, senior leader of PDP Ved Mahajan said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of the state had set an example of good governance. He said that it was only during the regime of Mufti Sayeed that all the regions were treated equally. He asked the people to compare three years regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with decade long mis-governance of successive NC regimes.

Shanti Devi, Abdul Ahad Wani, Shoukat Daing, Imtiyaz Khanday, Bahar Ahmed Runiyal, Hamidullah Wani, Ghulam Nabi Shan, Abdul Aziz Malik, Shamim Akthar and others also addressed the meeting.
