Duration, schedule of Amarnath Yatra from 2012 onwards SASB Sub-Committee holds meeting with State Govt, Security Forces

SRINAGAR, Sep 13:-The Sub-Committee constituted by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board under the chairmanship of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, to advise the Board regarding the duration and schedule of the annual Amarnath Yatra from 2012 onwards, held its first meeting here today.
The Sub-Committee held consultations with senior officers of the State Government and the Security Forces, which are involved in providing logistical support and security for the conduct of Yatra every year. The Sub-Committee heard their views on all the related issues.
Madhav Lal, Chief Secretary; Lt. Gen. S. A. Hasnain, GOC, XV Corps; Kuldeep Khoda, Director General of Police; B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary, Home, Anirudh Uppal, Special Director General, CRPF, Maj. Gen. Gurdeep Singh, GOC Victor Force and Showkat Ahmad Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal participated in the meeting.
The Members of the Sub-Committee who attended the meeting included Swami Giananandji of Vrindavan; Prem Gupta, IPS (Retd), R. L. Bharti, IFS (Retd), Dr. Chandra Mouli Raina, Assistant Professor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jammu, Y. V. Sharma, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, all Members of the Sub-Committee, R. K. Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, who is Member-Secretary of the Sub-Committee. Besides, Preet Pal Singh, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board was also present.
It is pertinent to mention that Shri Amarnath Shrine Board at its meeting held on 22nd July this year under the chairmanship of N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Board, had set up its Sub-Committee, chaired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, to hear all the interested parties and advise the Board regarding duration and schedule of Shri Amarnathji Yatra from 2012 onwards.
The Sub-Committee would be leaving for Jammu tomorrow where it will provide hearings to the representatives of the BABA Yatri Niyas and Shri Amarnath Barfani Langar Organization (SABLO).
