“Lal Prakash” released on Pandit Prem Nath Shastri ji birthday | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 13-Governor, N. N. Vohra today said that teachings of saints and religious and social personalities have, over the centuries past, played a vital role in promoting communal harmony, brotherhood and secularism. The Governor said this after releasing a book titled "Lal Prakash" written by Pandit Omkar Nath Shastri, elder son of Pandit Prem Nath Shastri at a function organized by Sanskratik Sodh Sansthan (SSS) in connection with 91st birth anniversary of Pandit Prem Nath Shastri at Police Auditorium in Gulshan Ground. MLC Mr. Vijay Bakaya, Vice Chancellor Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji University Dr. N. K. Bamzai, besides other prominent personalities of Kashmiri Pandit community were present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vohra complimented Pandit Omkar Nath Shastri for furthering the invaluable work done by his late father, the outstanding scholar and astrologer, Pandit Prem Nath Shastri, and wished him continuing success in his future literary endeavours. He said the book “ Lal Prakesh” is an invaluable rendering of the Vakhs of Lal Ded and enable many readers to profit from getting acquainted with the pluralistic foundations of Kashmiriyat. While paying tribute to Pandit Prem Nath Shastri on his 91st birthday, the Governor described Shastri ji as a great scholar and astrologer who contributed to the preservation of Kashmiri identity at a crucial juncture and also promoted unity and togetherness among the community. His work in the promotion of Sharda script and Laleshwari research centre (Shod Sansthan) will be remembered for a long time. Mr. Vohra hoped that with the establishment of Laleshwari Research Centre and promotion of Sharda script, the literature of Kashmir will get a very significant boost. The Governor highlighted the importance of books as valuable treasures of history, culture, heritage and literature. On the occasion, the renowned artists of radio, doordarshan besides students of Abhay School Muthi presented a colourful Sanskritik and religious items which was highly applauded by the jam packed audience.
