Fresh trouble for NC-Cong: BJP resolution in J&K House on reclaiming POK territory | Will Speaker admit this one on Sept 15 crucial meeting…….? | | Saroj Razdan Jammu, Sept 13: At a time when all eyes are set on the meeting of all parties Speaker of J&K Assembly Mohammand Akbar Lone has convened which may formally admit resolution on Afzal Guru, BJP is all set to pose a fresh dilemma and challenge by seeking acceptance of its resolution on reclaiming the territory of Kashmir 'illegally' held by Pakistan. The resolution is similar on the lines of one that stands unanimously adopted by the Parliament in 1994. BJP senior leader and MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria has submitted this resolution to the state Assembly for inclusion in the business of Legislative session beginning on September 26. The thrust of the resolution is to get this passed by J&K House and recommend strongly to Centre to mount pressure on Pakistan to cede the areas back to India which are its integral part. This is for the first time a resolution on this subject will be brought by any party in the J&K House. Even as the BJP MLA has submitted the resolution within stipulated deadline, in the wake of what he has sought to be resolved by the House - reclaiming and restoring the areas of Kashmir occupied by Pakistan, it is unlikely to be accepted , leave alone debated by the legislators from Kashmir based parties. BJP MLA seeks J&K House to 'unanimously' adopt and pass this resolution and recommend the Government of India to build pressure on Pakistan to cede the occupied territory of Kashmir. "I have submitted the resolution on September 9 and therefore there is no scope for its rejection on grounds of getting late than the deadline……….there is nothing beyond what Parliament has unanimously adopted in 1994 that I have sought through this resolution", said Ashok Khajuria while confirming having submitted this resolution to the House. BJP is of firm view that nullifying and negating Pakistan's authority on areas of Kashmir it has held illegally is the only pending and unfinished agenda in settlement of Kashmir issue, Khajuria said adding that all the parties including ruling Congress is bound to vote in its favour. In order to remind the House about 1994 Parliament resolution, BJP MLA has attached a copy of that one along with the fresh one submitted to J&K House. "I want the Assembly to resolve that areas of Kashmir held by Pakistan are unauthorisedly occupied by Pakistan whereas India considers those areas as integral part of the country…..", Khajuria asserted. The ball is now in Speaker's court and we are waiting how he would respond to this resolution, BJP MLA said pointing out that he (Speaker) has already admitted the resolution on seeking clemency for Afzal Guru. "The ball is now in his court……he should have no reasons to reject it on any ground………..if Guru's resolution is in interest of peace in Kashmir, my resolution is in the interest of entire nation", he observed. While the Speaker has convened meeting on September 15 in which leadership of all parties have been invited to discuss among other things the admission of resolutions as per the system of draw of lots, BJP is waiting for the fate of this resolution which is set to pose fresh dilemma and challenge to both NC and Congress , the latter already being in a fix as to how it would conduct itself on resolution on Afzal Guru. While the party is waiting for response from the Speaker, it is also , readying itself to whip up the issue against the ruling allies. "If Speaker does not accept or enlist it for debate, we would expose the ruling parties", Khajuria said indicating party's well prepared strategy to counter and expose the parties on both the resolutions. |
