Employee-Govt row over pay commission arrears | Govt forms new committee to talk with employees | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sept 14 (KNS): Ahead of employees proposed strike from September 26, the state government has constituted a high level committee to initiate a fresh dialogue with the agitating employees, sources told KNS. They said the committee has been constituted on the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and is headed by his Political Advisor Devender Singh Rana. The other members of the committee are Chief Secretary Madhav Lal, Principle Secretary to CM, B B Vyas, Home Secretary B R Sharman, Commissioner Secretary GAD, Mohammad Sayeed Khan and Commissioner Secretary PDD Bashrat Ahmad Dhar. “The committee has invited JCC leaders, Khurshid Aalam, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Ram Kumar for first meeting at Civil Secretariat here on Thursday at 12 noon,” official sources told KNS. The Chief Secretary conformed to KNS that the employee leaders have been invited for the meeting. “Employee and employer are always one. We want some amicable solution and will come up with new and concrete ideas in the meeting. I hope we will reach to some consensus,” he told KNS. However, Lal said, it would be premature to comment what proposals they will be placing before the employee leaders. Employees Joint Action Committee (K) chairman and JCC leader, Khurshid Alam welcomed government’s latest initiative. “We hope something concrete will come out of talks this time. Rana sahib was in favour of employees demands and always tried to help us out. We hope he will keep problems of employees in mind,” he told KNS. EJAC (Q) President and JCC leader Abdul Qayoom Wani said that he was hopeful that something concrete will come out of the meeting. “However, we warn the government that they shouldn’t use delay dally tactics as that would lead them nowhere,” he said. “But it seems the CM is serious this time and that is why the new committee has been formed,” he added. Another employee leader Gafoor Dar while welcoming the formation of new committee said, “I’m hopeful that Rana sahib will be able to do justice with the employees. He (Rana) is a seasoned politician and knows the problems of employees very well.”
