| Anjuman holds literary meet | | | Jammu | Dec 04 A literary meet of Anjuman ‘Farogh-e-Urdu’ was held at Danish Kadah under the chairmanship of Amin Banihali all those Urdu writers who have been awarded Gulab Academy awards in the year 2005 were congratulated in the meet, In particular the writer, poet and critic of the state Prof. Hamidi Kashmiri was facilitated by the Anjuman for the award. Anjuman also congratulated a well-known poet Mohinder Partap Chand of Ludhaina for adding another feather in his cap by getting the title of “Mehtab-e-Sukhan” from Nawrang Adabi Idara, Ludhaina. Secretary of the Anjuman in reference to an article informed the members of the Anjuman about the love and soft corner the first Prime Minister of India had for the Urdu language. Having taken the birth in a family which was extra-ordinarily educated during its own time and very well versed with Persian and Urdu languages and holding respectable posts. He was an ardent admirer of Urdu language despite the fact that he himself was a writer and journalist of English. He had said that though he has not read the language in any school but it is his mother tongue and was proud to use it. He said, Nehru had denounced it at many occasions that Hindi has been associated with the Hindus and Urdu with the Muslims, but observed that Hindi and Urdu are the two faces of India because that has one foundation and one grammar. In the meeting, members felt that in hearts of hearts many people feel that Urdu should flourish and prosper along with other languages but for political or shortsighted reasons they apparently opposing it, and should be taken as a language and not discarded at the alter of politics.
