CB presents challan against couple in cheating case

Crime Branch Jammu presented challan in the court of law against a couple in a cheating case after initiating 512 Cr PC. Giving brief history of the case, the SSP Crime and Railways said that one Padam Singh son of Krishan Singh of Subash Nagar Jammu lodged a written complaint to the effect that Suram Chand son of Bail Nath and his wife Sukriti Gupta resident of Shakti Nagar who were their neighbourers hatched a conspiracy and started visiting to his house to build up pitiful picture of Sukriti Gupta who was running ready made garments business. They projected before the complainant that the business was running in loss for want of money and on asking, the complainant handed over a cheque of Rs. one lakh to Sukriti Gupta as loan for a period of two years and also obtained Rs.85,000 from the complainant and agreed to repay the same within two years. After expiry of the period, the couple did not return the amount and instead issued two cheques of Central Cooperative Bank and Citizens’ Cooperative Bank, but both the cheques bounded due to insufficient funds in the accounts and finally sold their house and left for some unknown destination and are still at large. The SSP said, on this a case FIR NO 09/ 2005 u/as 420/RPC/138 NI Act was registered at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu and took up investigation through some expert investigators. The team succeeded in getting all the related records and recorded the statements of the prosecution witnesses. The records were got examined through Forensic Science Laboratory and offences were established against the couple and accordingly challenged in the court of law for judicial determination.
