Mehbooba seeks peoples’ support to take PDP’s agenda of peace, development to far-flung areas | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Gool, Sep 14: Reiterating resolve of her party to aggressively pursue the agenda of peace and development in the state, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today sought support of the people of Gool to take party’s agenda to the far flung areas. Addressing an impressive public meeting organised by Haji Imtiyaz Ahmed Shan at Gool, Mehbooba Mufti said that active participation of people was must to bring positive change in their respective areas. She said that PDP-Congress regime had brought some positive change in the state and had created a sense of security among people due to the support of the people. “It was all due to the support of people that PDP came to power and the party had implemented its agenda to accelerate developmental activities and pursued the policy of peace and reconciliation”, she said, adding, “after formation of PDP-Congress regime security scenario was changed because that regime had stopped humiliation of the people and restore dignity and honour of the common masses”. Reminding the gathering about various reliefs given to the people after formation of PDP-Congress regime, she recalled that immediately after coming to power PDP-Congress regime had stopped oppressive policy and provided healing touch to the people to heal their wounds. “Draconian laws like POTA were immediately revoked after formation of PDP –Congress regime ”, she said and added that Task Force was brought under control and security forces were made to behave in humane manner. “Not only security scenario was improved during PDP-Congress regime but development activities were also accelerated and special attentions were paid towards neglected and backward belt”, she said. “PDP-Congress regime had simultaneously pursued the process of peace and development in this state and it was result of this policy that developmental activities were taken place on large scale besides restoration of peace”, she said. PDP chief pointed out that PDP-Congress regime had created conducive atmosphere in the state but the present regime during the last three years had spoiled that atmosphere. “The present regime has turned Jammu and Kashmir into a police state, leaving everything including administrative measures at their door”, she said.
