Bhim fooling himself and the neglected people | Reorganisation of J&K | | Neha JAMMU, Sept 14: Is the Panthers Party chief interested in the reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir? Does he really want the emergence of a political system that would enable the neglected and grossly ignored people of Jammu province, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs included, to have their own legislative assembly and chief minister belonging to this province? Does he employ the methodology that really ensures the implementation of his much-talked about Agenda 2011? What has he and his party done during the past more than eight months to realise the stated goal? When on January 8 this year the Panthers Party under the leadership of Bhim Singh adopted the Agenda 2011 in the presence of some distinguished members of the Jammu society (not members of the Panthers Party), it was hoped that Bhim Singh had taken the final plunge and that he would not now look back. What had made the people that time pin their faith in the leadership of Bhim Singh was his solemn pledge that "he shall do his level best to liberate the Dogras from the clutches of the Kashmiri leadership and see to it that he realises his goal before he leaves the world". It was this pledge that had inspired and enthused everyone present in the meeting where the Agenda 2011 was adopted with great enthusiasm with those present in the meeting congratulating Bhim Singh for what they called "his right stand". However, it appears that Bhim Singh is not really committed to what he solemnly held out. That the Agenda 2011 was mere an attempt at hoodwinking the people of Jammu province and that he was not really committed to it became quite evident during the past more than eight months. Apart from issuing a few statements and holding a couple of dharnas, the Panthers Party has not done any appreciable in this regard. It, like other parties, particularly the BJP, is busy in doing things that in no way end the Jammu's night of discontent and despair. That the Panthers Party is not interested in enforcing the Agenda 2011 became quite evident the other day when he met the Prime Minister, discussed with him his so-called reorganisation proposal and urged him to convene a meeting of the state leaders with a view to evolving a consensus on the issue. Bhim Singh's consensus formulation was as ridiculous as it was designed to dilute the whole issue of Jammu's empowerment. He knew it full well that the Kashmiri leadership would under no situation accept the reorganisation demand. For, the reorganisation of the state and creation of separate legislative assembly in Jammu would automatically mean the end of the Kashmiri rule over this province. The Kashmiri leadership would never ever endorse any proposal that has the potential of ending the Valley's domination over Jammu province. They consider Jammu as the Kashmir's colony. Besides, Kashmir and Kashmir leadership are becoming richer and richer by the day at the cost of Jammu. The day Jammu gets segregated from Kashmir the latter would turn pauper in no time. The methodology Bhim has been employing for what he calls the Jammu cause is so ineffective and so uninspiring that it would not induce the aggrieved people to join him. The policy of petition and memoranda cannot inspire the people because the authorities in the country are so insensitive that they listen only when they feel threatened. Take, for example, the Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption that had virtually brought the Union Government to the knees of the protesting people and that left the Congress with no other option but to yield to a considerable extent. Such methodology works and clicks and not the one Bhim Singh has been employing. Will Bhim Singh sit up and ponder over what has he been doing? Such an exercise on his part is imperative. |
