| Inter-college chess from Sept 19 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 15: To be held under the banner of Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU), the annual inter-college (men and women) chess tournament shall take place at GGM Science College from September 19.
In men’s section teams from 28 colleges, including defending champion, Government Degree College Udhampur, are taking part. Similarly, in women’s category, there are 18 teams participating in this knock-out event. Both winners, Government College for Women (GCW), Parade and runners-up, GGM Science College have been given bye in the first round.
As per the laid down norms, a participating college can compete with a six-member team including two reserve players.
This six-day meet shall be held under the supervision of qualified technical officials.
