| Doctor, parents denied bail in dowry case | | | EARLY TIMEA REPOT
JAMMU, Sept 15: Special municipal mobile magistrate V S Bhau today rejected the bail
applications of Dr Javed Iqbal, a B-grade surgeon, his father Mohammad Abdullah and
mother Issam Begum in a dowry case.
All hail from Nadian in Darhal, Rajouri. Dr Javed's wife Smaira Choudhary alias Gurpreet
Kour of Chandigarh had lodged a complaint against him and his parents, alleging her
torture by them for dowry.
In her complaint, she accused Dr Javed of subjecting her to physical and sexual
torture. She also alleged that her in-laws had misappropriated her property worth Rs 50
lakhs.
Acting on her complaint, police registered a case against the accused under sections
498-A, 420, 409, 406 and 120-B of RPC.
Rejecting their bail applications, the court directed that the accused be got medically
examined after every 48 hours and directed IO to expedite investigation of the case to
take it to its logical conclusion.
