Intending Hajis complain of lack of facilities at Hajj House | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sept 15 (KNS): The intending Hajj pilgrims who were imparted training on Monday have expressed serious concern over the lack of facilities at Hajj House here. A delegation of intending pilgrims told KNS that the masjid in the four storey Hajj House has been kept on the top floor. “About Rs 15 crores have been spent on various buildings in Hajj House. During recent Hajj Training on September 12, about 800 to 900 intending pilgrims had to offer the prayers and it was difficult for old age people to go to the fourth floor,” they said. The intending pilgrims said that for 800-900 men and women, there were only four latrine points. “We were asked to come at 9.30 AM. But there was no electricity upto 11 AM. Despite spending 15 crores no power back up facility has been kept in the building,” they added. In all districts of the valley, training to Hajji's is imparted tehsil wise or two tehsils at a time. In such cases there is no accommodation problem and trainees can listen the lessons and watch the visuals. “But for a population of about 10 lakh of Srinagar district the training progrmme should have been arranged at least for four days. A gathering of 800-900 could not watch the visuals and listen the programme easily. Majority of trainees were of the opinion that districts in the Muffasalats do this job successfully because Deputy Commissioner is head of the administration and responsible for this job, whereas the job at Hajj house has been entrusted to Executive Officer Haj, who does not command authority on administrative problems like power, PHE, SMC,” they added.
