44th Engineers day celebrated | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, September 14: The 44th Engineers day was celebrated by The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre at its institutional complex, Channi Himmat, Jammu which was attended by large numbers of engineers from the different departments and organizations.
This day is celebrated all our the country to commemorate birth anniversary of the greatest engineer M Visvesvaraya, Bharat Ratna. Er. Anil Verma, MIE former Honorary Secretary of Jammu Centre, while paying rich tributes to M. Visvesvaraya highlighted his qualities like Austerity, Integrity, Competence and Discipline.
Earlier, Er. Ashok K Gutpa, FIE Chairman of the centre presented the welcome Address in which the sterling qualities of M. Visvesvaraya were highlighted. Different problems being faced by engineers like stagnation, time bound promotions, removal of structural anomalies in engineering services of J&K and jobs to unemployed engineers were put forth before the Chief Guest to be redressed by the Government. The inaugural session was followed by a technical session which was chaired by Er. D. S. Pawar, FIE Member, J&K SERC in which 5 papers were presented by Er. S. K. Sharma, FIE; Er. S. C. Thukral, FIE; Er. P. K. Nanda, MIE; Er. B. L. Rawal , MIE and Er. Rabinder Shekher, MIE on the theme topic “Engineering Preparedness for Disaster Mitigation”.
